Topnir Systems : History
Topnir technology was initially invented and developed by the founders in BP and was subsequently bought out to establish Topnir Systems. With more than 20 years of business experience worldwide alongside every major Oil & Gas Company, our skills and expertise into NIR systems and modeling has led to an extensive and diverse install base with the delivery of more than 150 applications and 40 patents.
In 1989, Topnir was the first world wide to implement an online application designed to measure and control octane number for gasoline production, as well as first NIR on-line application worldwide on Ethylene Plant Naphtha feed (1986) and Crude Oil (1991).
Topnir Systems is the leading supplier of advanced solutions for oil and refining process control. We are experts in blending solutions and supply turn-key systems for both blending operations and process plants optimization related to the oil and petrochemical industry. Topnir’s technology includes the measurement system for hydrocarbons, delivering properties in less than 1 minute, off-line, and/or online.
Established in Aix en Provence, France, Topnir retains the proprietary Topnir technology and all the related patents and trademark. Inventors of the technology are members of the core team of Topnir Systems.
The main applications we support are blending (gasoline, diesel, crude oil, etc…), crude oil plant monitoring and control, FCC and Steam cracker plants as well as any crude mixture identification in Upstream activities.
With Topnir you can optimize crude identification, characterization, and blending as well as minimize quality give-away for fuel blending (gasoline and diesel). Other Applications include process plants such as FCC, hydrocrackers, reformers, isomerization units, and so on. We also offer unique solutions for Base oils and bitumen.
Topnir encompasses a complete background in the Refinery and Chemicals process technology. As a group, we have extensive process design, start-up experience, and system configuration experience. Our technology is platform-independent and can interface with any control system.
Among the substantial benefits of an installed system, end-users gain an optimized performance with expanded production of the most valuable products leading to dramatically increased profits. The financial benefits per application average between 2 and 6 MUSD. The return on investment and payback is very short, between 6 and 12 months.
